Good curtains outlive their hardware. The fabric is often still in excellent condition when the track starts to sag, the glides crack, the hooks pull through the heading tape or the hem drops after a wash. Replacing custom curtains because the track failed is an expensive way to solve a hardware problem.
Atlas Blind & Curtain repairs curtains, tracks and rails across Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan and the Redlands. We are a curtain workroom as well as an installer, so alterations, re-heading and hem work are done by the same people who make our custom curtains.
What we are usually called out for:
Track and rail work is the bulk of what we repair. A curtain track is only as good as its fixings, and the most common failure we see is a track fixed into plasterboard with nothing behind it — it holds until the curtain is heavy or someone tugs it. We re-fix into studs or proper cavity anchors and add brackets where the span needs them. If the track itself is bent or the wrong weight rating, we replace it; see curtain track installation and curtain rail fitting.
Re-heading is the repair most people do not know exists. If the heading tape has torn but the fabric is good, we can fit new tape and change the heading style at the same time — pencil pleat to S-fold or pinch pleat, for instance — which gives an old curtain a genuinely different look for far less than new drapes.
For length, width and lining changes see our curtain alteration service. If curtains have been taken down for painting or moving, our curtain rehanging service covers putting them back properly.
If the fabric is sound, repair the hardware — it is the clear value choice, and tracks, glides and tape are inexpensive next to custom curtains. Re-heading and re-hemming are worth doing on quality fabric. Where we will tell you to replace is sun-rotted fabric, where the lining has perished and shreds when handled, or where the curtains are simply the wrong size for the window and always were. We quote both so the choice is yours.
Yes. We repair and alter curtains regardless of where they came from. Bring them in to our Darra workshop or we can collect during an on-site visit.
Often, yes — that is re-heading. Whether it works depends on the fabric width and how much length the new heading needs, so we check the panel first and tell you honestly if it will not work.
Almost always. A sagging track usually just needs additional brackets and proper fixings. If the track is under-rated for the weight of the curtain, we will recommend a heavier track rather than adding brackets to something that will sag again.
Yes — motor faults, limit settings and remote pairing are all serviceable. See our motorised curtains page.
It depends on the type of blind and which parts it needs, so we quote before any work starts. Simple mechanical jobs are quick and low-cost; motor and fabric work costs more. Describe the fault and send a photo and we can give you a guide estimate over the phone.
We try to fit repairs in quickly, often within a few days. If it is a privacy or security problem — a bedroom blind stuck open, for instance — tell us and we will try to prioritise the visit.
We warranty the parts we supply and our repair labour. We cannot warranty the rest of an older blind, but we make sure the fix itself is solid.
Yes. We repair blinds and curtains regardless of where they were bought. Most use standard components we can source or substitute; proprietary systems usually need manufacturer parts, which we can order in.
Not sure which applies? Start at our blind repair service page and we will point you to the right fix.
We repair across the whole Brisbane region from our Darra workshop — the western suburbs including Jindalee, Mount Ommaney, Indooroopilly and Chapel Hill, the southern suburbs like Oxley, Sunnybank and Algester, and the inner city and northside from Kangaroo Point to The Gap, Everton Park and Aspley.
Beyond Brisbane we travel to Ipswich — Booval, Brassall, Goodna and Springfield — across Logan to Springwood and Daisy Hill, and into the Redlands at Cleveland and Wellington Point.
Tell us what is wrong and send a photo if you can — we can usually give you a guide estimate over the phone, then confirm it on site before any work starts.
